Physioworks Health Group continues its ongoing sponsorship of local community sporting leagues and clubs in season 2015, including providing health care service support, education and assistance.

Physioworks Health Group is the exclusive Medical and Allied Health Care sponsor of the South East Football Netball League (SEFNL) and the Ellinbank and District Football League (EDFL). These community based partnerships aim to support and assist the leagues and their member clubs with the development of their player welfare and health care programs.

Physioworks Health Group Director David Francis was a guest presenter at the EDFL information night on Monday 2nd March at Dusties Social Rooms at Western Park, Warragul.

It was the first of three information nights for the EDFL for 2015, which are designed to keep all clubs up to date of the latest league developments and to engage with the local community.

Physioworks Health Group is the allied health care and sports medicine partner of the EDFL in 2015.

David Francis spoke about the support and education the Physioworks team can provide to assist the EDFL in the improvement of player performance, development and welfare. He emphasised that effective performance at each club requires team work across people in every role in a club; and all EDFL trainers should act as a collective to share best practice in injury management across the league.

Several Physioworks EDFL health care related events are planned to support the league across the 2015 season.

• On the 25th March, Physioworks will hold a pre-season Trainers educational night for all EDFL Trainers at Physioworks Pakenham clinic, focussed on injury prevention and management.
• An education night for EDFL coaches, focussed on player welfare, is planned for mid to late April.

Physioworks will be providing health care support the EDFL Inter-League squad as they prepare for their annual game in May.

Over 330 senior cricketers will be donning the whites in the Australian Over 60’s National Cricket Championships starting this weekend

Physioworks Health Group will be providing allied health care support to the event to be held at cricket grounds around the Dandenong region from November 8-13.

The event attracts 30 teams from around Australia, playing in four divisions, with each team playing three games and then finals, with all players aged over 60.

Andrew Dalwood & the team at Waverley Park Physiotherapy Centre will be at playing venues at the end of each day play to access any injuries, and will refer players to one of Physioworks four eastern Melbourne based clinics for injury treatment and management.

All players and coaches will receive a squad rate for all treatments at Physioworks clinics across the Championships.

The team at Physioworks Health Group have long term experience and commitment to cricket providing services at both the local community level and elite level, including the Victorian Bushrangers, the Melbourne Renegades, the VCA Cricket Academy & the Camberwell Magpies Cricket Club.

Physioworks Health Group is supporting the final campaigns of community football and netball leagues, and numerous local teams as they strive to achieve the ultimate success this September.

After a long season, nagging injuries are common place, so the Physioworks team play a critical role in assisting with player treatment and management to ensure player participation in the season’s most important games.

The Physioworks Camberwell team also supported the Ashy Redbacks Junior Football Club and our team at Waverley Park Physiotherapy Centre supported the Waverley Park Hawks in completing another successful season of participation, enjoyment and fun, with a range of boys and girls teams from each club playing finals footy and winning Grand Finals.

Physioworks Health Group are sponsoring young, talented, local basketballer Lee Belton this season; his first season in the Big V competition.

Lee is a well-known local identity in basketball circles around Casey Cardinia, having played for Pakenham Warriors as a junior for a number of years.

This season, Lee has earned selection in the Pakenham Warriors Big V team and is also giving back to his club as coach of an Under 16 girls Pakenham Warriors team; and to his sport as a referee in junior competition games.

Two recent event evenings were held at Physioworks Cranbourne for coaches and trainers across both Leagues.

Former AFL triple premiership player, Craig McRae, now one the leading development coaches in the AFL system with Collingwood FC; and Collingwood FC Head Physiotherapist David Francis, who has 18+ year’s expertise at the elite sports level; presented to club coaches at the Physioworks Player Development and Welfare Night evening.

Twelve (12) coaches across the two leagues discussed the important components of making a club successful; including the combined and coordinated approach required by all club stakeholders, and especially the importance of communication, understanding, trust and welfare of the playing group.

At the Physioworks Trainers Night, Head Trainer of Collingwood FC, Ron Bownds, who has 20 years’ experience in the AFL system, along with David Francis, worked with twenty-six (26) trainers from a range of local clubs, with a focus on taping, injury prevention, injury management and general fitness.
