Summer is a busy time for all with Christmas, school holidays, summer BBQ’s, summer sport and beachgoing.
For Physioworks Health Group Physiotherapist, Ben Shipperd, it was a busy summer providing health services for the Collingwood Football Club and Cricket Victoria.
Ben, who works at PHG Cranbourne and PHG Pakenham clinics, provided physiotherapy services to the Collingwood VFL team during the pre-season training phase, consisting of treatment of player injuries & the co-ordination of training for players in the rehabilitation group.
Working with elite athletes at Collingwood has enabled Ben to develop cutting edge management techniques which he can use in the treatment of football players in the south eastern suburb leagues, who are regular patients at PHG Cranbourne and Pakenham
“Hands on assessment combined with the opportunity to pick the brains of some of the best sports doctors and physio’s in Victoria was invaluable for my ongoing education and development. I’m in a great position now to be able to advise our local players on the best way to manage and rehabilitate their sporting injuries, in the quickest possible timeframe” said Ben.
Physioworks Health Group prides itself on being at the forefront of physiotherapy education in the development of its health practioners to ensure best practice, innovation and service excellence in treatment of our patients.
Ben balanced football commitments with numerous sessions working with the Victorian Bushrangers, providing physiotherapy service to elite Australian and Premier State cricketers.
“A few of the bowlers had some really different injuries. The stress, strain and forces that fast bowlers expose their bodies to means technique assessment and treatment management are paramount, not only for elite cricketers, but within all cricket programs” said Ben.
