What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapists are health professionals primarily concerned with the assessment, diagnosis, treatment & prevention of spinal & musculoskeletal disorders. They utilise their knowledge of normal movement & the function of bones, joints, muscles, tendons & ligaments to determine if they are performing effectively & normally.
How will Physiotherapy assist me?
Physiotherapy aims to restore normal & pain free function with the use of manual physical treatments including joint mobilisation, massage, electrotherapy, joint manipulation and exercises complemented by advice and education.
People who benefit from physiotherapy can range from athletes recovering from an injury, a worker rehabilitating from a back injury to the older person coping with the aging process.
What is the value & benefit of physiotherapy? The Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) released a 2021 report “The Economic Value of Physiotherapy” highlighting the cost effectiveness & enhanced quality of life delivered by physiotherapy. For a summary of the Cost v Benefit of physio – view here.
