Physioworks Health Group Director Andrew Dalwood was recently invited by the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) to speak at the annual APA Doctors Breakfast.
Held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the event had over 300 medical and health care professionals in attendance.
As a leading Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist Andrew Dalwood (FACP) participated as a panel member discussing research into Hip Osteoarthritis (Hip OA).
The research focus was identifying the effectiveness of physiotherapy exercise rehabilitation and diet in reducing pain in people with Hip Osteoarthritis.
The Hip OA research, by the University of Melbourne Centre for Health, Exercise and Sports Medicine (CHESM) group led by Professor Kim Bennell, has included numerous selective patient cases presenting at Physioworks Health Group across our Cranbourne and Camberwell clinics over the last 4-5 years.
A truly inspiring body of work, Professor Bennell presented the results from the substantial number of Hip OA research projects that CHESM has researched over the past 5 years. The panel discussion also included Jennie Marlow, a Physioworks client who lives with Hip OA, and Orthopaedic Surgeon David Slattery.
Andrew Dalwood shared his clinical insights from treating Hip Osteoarthritis on a clients across the research projects, and how his clinical practice, and that of the wider team at Physioworks Health Group, has evolved due to the research performed.
An additional personal outcome for Andrew from the breakfast was a reconnection with Peter Duras (OAM), a physio mentor who provided work experience in 1983 to then 16 year old Andrew, inspiring his physiotherapy career pathway!!
